Wow, it's been 4 months??

Ever since Facebook came into my life, I have been neglecting this blog! The main reason is that I rarely take pictures of my boys anymore (well, with my big camera), and then when I do, I rarely upload them to my computer. It's so much easier to take a picture with my phone and upload it to Facebook!

A few things have taken place since I wrote 4 months ago. Matthew turned 7 years old in June and is back at school, in first grade again at Joyner Elementary. His new teacher is Mrs. Jennifer Rinehart. He still has Mrs. Gravatt for his resource (SPED) teacher. He is doing great this year, probably the best year he has had so far. Poor fellow got some type of infection in his thumb, probably from a splinter, and had to have surgery last Tuesday! We stayed the night in the hospital, came home on Wednesday and he was back at school on Thursday. The boy is a trooper!

Nathan is a typical 2 year old, driving everyone in the house insane!! He loves to agitate Matthew and they fight pretty frequently. It drives me and Ryan crazy. However, he can be sweet too. He is learning to use the potty and I'd say he is about 75% trained. He occasionally pees on himself but for the most part will tell us when he needs to go. Pooping is a different story. Let's just say we're still working on that one. :/ He goes to day school two days a week at First Baptist Church and I'm amazed at everything he has learned so far!

Ryan is still working a lot, bless him. And I'm still staying at home until the Lord leads me otherwise. I'd love to get a part time job somewhere but it's hard to justify day care expenses with part time work. It's just not enough pay. I feel when the time is ready, the Lord will provide me with the perfect job!

Ryan and I are both training for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon on December 3. We are really looking forward to it! My only goal is to finish it! :)

I hope to update sooner next time!! :)

10 year anniversary trip to Disney!!

Ryan and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary a little early by going to Disney World for a few days. While it wasn't really a relaxing vacation, we sure had a great time! It was so nice to focus just on us for a change. :) I did miss my boys, though, and can't wait to take them on a trip to Disney!!

Here are a few pictures, in no particular order. I'll post a few more later when Blogger isn't acting crazy!!

Gum Tree 10k

After the past 5 years of living here in Tupelo, I finally got to run in the Gum Tree 10k! It's a very popular road race in our area and actually, people from all over the place come to run it.

It was a good day for racing and running since it was cool and overcast. I really liked the course since there weren't many hills! There were a lot of people running it, many people we knew. It was cool to see everyone out and having a good time.

I ran with a very good friend, Candise Brown. She and I have been running together for several months and have pushed each other. It's been such a great journey running with her and she has taught me a lot, both about running and about myself! She's been such an inspiration to me.

So back to the race: I had a goal in mind that I wanted to beat: 54 minutes. I thought I might be able to get under 53 minutes but didn't know that I wanted to kill myself in the process. Well, in the long run (hehe), I ran it in 51:20!! I placed 7 out of 80 women in my age group (30-34). I think it's the fastest I have ever run. I don't think I ran so hard in my life. My lungs were burning!!

All in all it was a great race and I had a good time! I definitely plan to do it again next year. :)

Ryan snapped this picture as we were taking off

Here I am pushing it at the finish

Renaissance Half Marathon

Ryan and I ran our first half marathon on Saturday in Ridgeland, MS. It was Ryan's first race ever and only my third race (I have run 2 5k's.) It was quite an experience and I had a great time! My official time was 1:55:37 (1 hr, 55 minutes, 37 seconds) and I placed 23 out of 110 women in my age group (30-39 years old). Ryan didn't really count his time since he ran with me and not at his regular pace. He is a much faster runner than I am and ran with me for support. :) He plans to run the Tupelo Marathon in October.

The weather was absolutely perfect for the race! We started at 6am, which was fine with me since I normally run at 5:15 or so a few mornings a week. The course was mainly flat with a few hills and inclines. Those were tough, though, especially the very last incline where we ran up a ramp at the very end.

A few of my friends also ran the race. It was Julie's first half, Candise's second half, and I think Amanda's second half. Here we are after the race, sporting our medals:

And here are me and my hunny:

I am still so sore today from running the race yesterday morning. My quads hurt more than anything. Despite that, I still had a great time and a great experience.

We had a great Easter day! The boys woke up to Easter baskets on the kitchen table, so they enjoyed some chocolate and jelly beans for breakfast. ;) We then got ready for church. We had no idea how packed it would be, so we showed up right on time. Well, that meant we were late! We ended up sitting in folding chairs in the aisles.

After church we went to Aunt Scarlet's house for lunch and egg hunting. She had a packed house. It was so great to hang out and visit with everyone. Ryan is so blessed that he has such a wonderful, close-knit family. I'm so blessed to be a part of it!

Here are some pictures in no particular order. I hate the way blogger loads them, and I can never figure out what pictures will be posted first so they are out of order. You get the idea, though.

Nathan & George

It's been awhile since I've posted a picture of Nathan and his pal George the Monkey so here ya go! This picture was taken on his 2nd birthday:

This was the first picture I took of him and George. Nathan was 4 months old here. He's grown up so much!

And I can't get over how grown he looks in this picture!

Nathan's 2nd Birthday Party

We celebrated Nathan's 2nd birthday with a Curious George party at our church's gym. The kids had a wonderful time.

I slacked at my job as a photographer but I did get a few cute shots:

Nathan's adorable cake!

He tried to blow them out but in the long run, he needed help from mom!

Matthew was being the teacher and I was the student - he was teaching me how to spell "front"
